Cruise Ship Employment is at an all time high. Today's cruise ships are massive floating hotels and offer a wide rang of employment at sea including: food preparation and serving staff, orchestra musicians, jazz and dance bands, sound and lighting technicians, dancers, bartenders and cocktail servers, cleaners, gift and retail shop staff, photographers, cabin stewards, youth staff, casino dealers, office personnel, fitness trainers and a wide variety of deck and marine staff. Some mega cruise ships even have gardeners and landscapers!

Most cruise ship jobs are typically 3 to 8 month contracts and are available full time, part time, as a summer job or just one time. You are not obligated to return, but if you did a good job, you will probably be asked to do another contract with the cruise line.

What do I need to get a cruise ship job?

123Cruise Ship Jobs require similar qualifications much like land based businesses. If you at least one years worth of experience in the hotel / restaurant business, you are already qualified. Likewise with casino dealers, shop keepers, bartenders, hairdressers and most of the other hotel department positions.

There are a number of entry level cruise ship jobs that provide on the job training for job openings such as luggage handlers, cleaning staff, ship and deck maintenance.

To work on a cruise ship, you should be friendly, a team player, in good physical shape and able to live on a cruise ship for extended periods.

You will require a valid passport. Depending on your country of origin, you may require a travel visa or additional travel documents. Check with your local consulate.

You will also be required to pass a physical examination for employment on a cruise ship.
